KANK Review

I saw KANK and suppose it to be the best work of Shahrukh Khan and Karan Johar till date . The direction and screenplpay is the best in the film so far in the Hindi film industry for the year 2006 and the acting performance given by Shahrukh has given him another level in the acting field as far as acting comparisons are to be made with the other actors of his level are to be concerned and the the new avatar discovered by Amtiji is just marvellous and mind blowing because very less often we see actor of his age and personna doing such a age defieng role. Kiron Kher and Preity Zinta have given full justification to thier roles.

The another person to see out in this multi starcast is Abhishek and Rani. If you ever thought that Black was the best work till date of Rani than go watch this out. Abhishek is best as he can get and he is improving with time. I found him to be the best in emotional areas where he fights with rani that why she isn't satisfied with him and at the end when he comes to know the truth.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna (KANK) is the story of Dev and Maya, both married to different people and completely convinced that they are happy, until they meet each other. Dev (Shah Rukh Khan) is a professional football player whose promising career is nipped in the bud after an accident. He is married to Rhea (Preity Zinta) whose career is on an upswing. They have a son, Arjun, and Dev’s mother, Kamaljit (Kirron Kher) lives with them. Maya (Rani Mukherji) teaches at a nursery and has married her closest friend Rishi (Abhishek Bachchan), a PR consultant. Rishi’s father, Samarjit Singh aka Sam (Amitabh Bachchan) is a flamboyant,
fun-loving man whose life revolves around the happiness of his son and daughter-in-law.

The two couples seem content despite the dissatisfaction below the surface but things start to change when a chance encounter between Dev and Maya brings them closer. There is a strange connection between them which blossoms into friendship.

Their time together soon causes complications. This new-found friendship between Dev and Maya causes them to look into their marriages with a new perspective and face up to issues that they hadn’t before. How all the different characters deal with this new development in their lives forms the crux of Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna.

The things that works for the film is:
  • The screenplay and the dialogues keep you glued to the seats till the end
  • The comedy is also good and the timing is the best
  • The acting is top notch and anywhere you can't find loopholes in the acting
  • Good new concept of extra martial affairs
  • The background music keep you everytime awake
The things that go against the film are:
  • The comedy is not at all meant for people watching with family and someone below 13
  • Long film of about 3hrs 10min but that is what we call Karan johar's Ada
  • The ending is too long and even it is stretched at times You can predict the ending by the last half and hour
The background music is really nice as it matches with the film and it gives scenes its full justice.Though music and songs are also well meant as you never think that they are barriers in the film as everthing go so smoothly that you don't even think that this song is at the wrong time.

The first half is filled with light moments and crude humour . And some parts in the first half that are top notch such as When both preity and rani cross each other and rani doesn't even know about it and how sharukh confrionts her by calling her and as this scenes must be common but the way they are executed are top class and can only be done by good direction and good expertise .

The film starts rolling accrording to its name when amitabh finds out that something is wrong between rani and abhishek after the song Rock & Roll Soniye and everthing is falling in pieces and the film finds its pace in the second half and all the comedy fishes out and tense moments come in .

As we know in everyfilm he(Karan Johar) is bout to give the audiences the twist and turn as he does so in his all the films he gives the sasme in this film and and at last the ending won't suit all the people of indian mentality

Last but not the least that the film will tend out to be the big blockbuster of the year. The film will make good collections as it has no competetion and also 15Aug and 16 Aug is a holiday .

I give it 4 stars out of 5
